Drug Administration in Children

drug administration in children

The latest international medical conventions have warned of the dangers that come with the medication of children, an action that has been established as the first alternative to pediatric visits. Alerted to the risks in these conventions, originate in the fact of an immediate diagnosis of disorders requiring the administration of drugs, which can generate negative consequences, especially if given in childhood.

At the Second International Symposium on Children’s Pathologization, convention to which we referred above, points to the administration of pills, with no other option for treatment in children. It was noted that the ADD, abbreviation for Attention Deficit Disorder, was the starting point of this constant, which, in turn, has been transformed in the surface layer of the current problems.

Symptoms and Diagnosis in Children

In this problem, we have highlighted cases of rapid diagnosis of bipolar disorder or depression. Also, disorders of the order of Pervasive Developmental Disorder, PDD or Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ODD, if diagnosed without more, to which drugs are needed.

What is disturbing about this is that the symptoms for which these disorders are diagnosed are very broad and not specific. A wide range of symptoms, which, in many cases may be children’s own behavior, they conclude in disorders should be treated with pills.

For example, the TOD, a condition that is usually treated with the drug commercially known as Ritalin, which can lead to dependence, is diagnosed in children who do not obey and are rebels, so that they are stationary.
